Santa’s Sharing

2018 Holiday Sponsorship Program
Make a family’s holiday wishes come true!

The Santa’s Sharing program allows you to assist a family needing a little help this year. Client families, selected by our case managers, are those with the most need…one or both parents unemployed, a single mother or father raising children alone. Some are the newly unemployed receiving Food Bank assistance while using any unemployment or savings to pay the rent or mortgage. Every year we see a large number of extended families living together, trying to avoid homelessness.

Client families complete an application with gift ideas for children 13 and under. Gift cards are popular with teens and/or as a family gift for parents.

Important Dates & Information

  • Direct & Indirect Sponsor matched with client families October 29 to December 6th
  • The Toy Store will be accepting new toys from November 19 to December 6th
  • Gift cards will be accepted starting on November 19th
  1. DIRECT SPONSORSHIP (purchase, wrap and deliver gifts directly to the family)

Sponsors purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts/gift cards directly to the family prior to Christmas. Sponsors may request the size family based on their ability to provide gifts. Often groups of friends or co- workers get together to share the cost and fun of sponsoring a larger family. We hope that sponsors will provide 2 – 3 nice gifts per child. We have learned from our in-house program that teens really enjoy gift cards. Parents appreciate gift cards as well. See the Santa’s Sharing Q & A page for other information.

  1. INDIRECT SPONSORSHIP (purchase a gift card for the parent to do the shopping for gifts for the family)

The sponsor will receive a family application with gift ideas. Based on how much you might spend the sponsor will purchase one large gift card (or several small ones) from a super store such as Target or Walmart (a store that carries food, clothing and toys). Client parents can then shop for the gifts. Unless a family has made a specific request, gift cards for services or a specialty store or boutique are not recommended unless you have discussed it with the parents. The sponsor will deliver or mail the gift cards directly to the family. The Help & Hope Center does not act as a go between.

  1. TOY STORE (purchase toys for families who we are unable to sponsor)

Donate new toys to the Toy Store (a list can be provided, request at Each year there are families who cannot be sponsored because of a language barrier, special circumstances or homelessness. For these families we collect new and unwrapped gifts. Parents will select 3 gifts for each child. Teens in families with younger children will be provided with gift cards plus (if available) a small gift to open. We also need gift wrap, tape and ribbon.

Please deliver toys for the TOY STORE between November 19 and December 6.

Non-sponsored families will come in to select gifts beginning December 10th therefore we would like all toys delivered to the Help and Hope Center before December 6. Toys received too late to be distributed will be used for birthday gifts in 2018. We need the toys early to be used for Christmas.

Cash donations or gift cards received for the Santa’s Sharing Program are combined with gifts from the Toy Store to provide a non-sponsored family with a nice holiday. Gift cards are very popular with teens and as a family gift. Please mail or deliver gift cards to our office at 1638 Park St, Castle Rock,by December 5th. Mark them to the attention of Jenny Follmer, Deputy Director.
