Treasures Thriftique
Typical shifts
- 9:00 am-1:00 pm (Monday – Saturday)
- 1:00 pm-5:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
- 1:00 pm-4:00 pm (Saturday only)
Pricing & Floor Stocking
Pricing merchandise, stocking the sales floor, creating store displays, maintaining fitting rooms, and preserving the overall appearance of the thrift store.
Cashier
Must be trained and be available on a consistent basis at least one shift a week for 4 hours. Handling money, providing quality customer service, and assisting customers as they purchase their items. Must have basic technology skills (using an iPad). Must be at least 16 years old.
Typical cashier shift is Saturday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Receiving
Morning shifts only. Sorting daily donations for quality control. Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. The position is frequently outside.
Food Pantry
Typical shifts
Monday-Friday
8:15 am-2:00 pm
Twice a month, the food pantry has evening shifts available as well. Other timeframes and shifts may be presented based on the needs of HHC.
Requirements
Volunteers may be expected to lift up to 40 lbs. while working in the Food Pantry. Food Pantry positions also frequently use warehouse equipment (i.e., pallet jack)
Sorters/Stockers & Truck Assistants
Unloading trucks and processing incoming donations. Sorting donations and stocking shelves for the client shopping area.
Greeters
Greeting clients and assisting with the client shopping process. Strong communication and customer service skills are required for this position.
Truck Drivers
Picking up donations in the Douglas County area. This position includes operating HHC boxtrucks and may require the use of a volunteer’s personal vehicle.
Client Services
Typical shifts
Monday-Friday
8:00 am-12:30 pm
We ask volunteers to provide a regular commitment within this role, preferably on the same day each week.
Reception
Assisting with client check-in, answering phones, and completing general office duties. Must have strong communication, customer service, and computer skills. Must work well with the public and present themselves compassionately.
Facilities, Seasonal, & Other
These positions are typically on an “as needed” basis. Facilities may have opportunities for more regular volunteer shifts depending on the volunteer’s interests and availability. Seasonal positions are events-based, usually asking volunteers to help in the previously mentioned positions or community engagement (i.e., tabling at a community outreach event such as the Castle Rock Star Lighting).

How do I get started?
Review the four volunteer types above and apply for the one that best fits you. If you are not sure after reading the descriptions, then apply for the General Volunteer option and explain your circumstances.
How old do I need to be to volunteer?
We ask our volunteers to be at least 16 years old. The Volunteer Coordinator may permit volunteers as young as 13 years old on a discretionary basis for Court-Ordered, High School, or Group programs.
Our volunteer program is a great fit for retirees looking to stay active, corporate groups, or for students needing community service hours or who are interested in civic engagement.
Can I come in the same day I apply and/or inquire?
We are not able to provide same-day volunteer opportunities at this time but would love to have you join our team of volunteers.
Begin with our volunteer sign-up process, and we'll shepherd you to a position that will help you give back in Castle Rock.
How long does it take for me to get started?
Typically, we'll respond to your application via email within 2 to 3 business days. The latest response time is one business week. At that time we'll send you a link to sign up for an orientation. Orientations are held roughly 2-3 times a month. We aim to get you scheduled for your first shift on the day of orientation, so come prepared with your availability!
For court-mandated community service program participants, we will first schedule a phone interview to determine if we can proceed with scheduling.
How big can my volunteer group be?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate groups larger than 10 volunteers at one time. If you have a group larger than 10 individuals, we recommend breaking your group up into teams of 4-6 individuals or considering one of our special projects if available. Our special projects may permit a larger group size.
